  Gene's Bedley Seminar "Difficult Children"

March 1, 2008 Say What You Mean! Mean What You Say! Dont Be Mean When You Say It! Gene Bedleys seminar on Practical Discipline for the Difficult Young Child provided teachers with insight to be able to help those difficult children in each of our classes, as well as strategies to help ourselves when we are in those difficult situations. I found his strategies helpful and also easy to implement into the classroom and that is why I shared his resource handbook with my other colleagues. I teach in an integrated program and something as simple as putting a button onto a string around the childrens neck has helped our class to button-up when it is time to be quiet; because as Gene repeated throughout the semi- nar, children need reminders. Something to think about from Gene Bedley: Take a moment to listen today, To what your children are trying to say. Listen today, whatever you do, And they will come back and listen to you. - Sarah Tubbs, Peter Castle Family Resource Center
