1. Values in Action! succeeds because teachers, administrators, and parents choose to make it a top priority in their educational goals.
2. Values in Action! succeeds because the staff selects an annual ethics theme, rather than to introduce a new theme every month.
3. Values in Action! succeeds because a site-based committee keeps presenting new character education content in monthly memos to the staff.
4. Values in Action! succeeds because it is embedded into all the existing literature, i.e. the character's character.
5. Values in Action! succeeds because teachers behave as role models for the children to emulate.
6. Values in Action! succeeds because teachers do not make assumptions that children are learning character in the home and become more intentional in promoting character development.
7. Values in Action! succeeds because student recognition assemblies are centered around Respectful and Responsible behavior.
8. Values in Action! succeeds because children learn right from wrong starting with the way they treat each other.
9. Values in Action! succeeds because teachers create new and creative character education activities that challenge students to perform at a higher level.
10. Values in Action! succeeds because teachers find implementing four activities and strategies per month / one new idea a week is manageable.
