Building relationships first and then accountability is what my new childrens book is all about. Released on July the 4th Heavy Freddy is a book that's grown on me and the importance of using animal transitions to help little children understand the appropriate way to behave.
Most monkey stories tell about real life adventures monkey's find themselves in but Heavy Freddy goes where no other monkey has gone before into a classroom to teach practical and fun ideas on becoming responsible.
The book is a tool for adults who live and work with small children. The book includes directions to the teacher on how to use each of the ideas.
Heavy Freddy
I'll never forget the day Heavy came to our class,
He surprised us all as he peered through the glass.
Entering the room, our teacher slowly walked,
We noticed the monkey and asked if he talked.
At first I thought Heavy came only to play,
But soon I discovered, he had plans for our day.
A big bag he set down by his side with a grin,
"Oh please open it up so I can see what's within!"
Big problems, little problems, he knew bout them all,
Stood Freddy with hands out, to answer my call.
He had many bananas to open and read,
A message for someone, I hope it's for me.
All the stories that came from each kid's playground life,
Revealed events of teasing, problems, and strife.
Freddy kept records for acts of respect,
And pulled out some blocks to spell and connect.
An invitation to play "Giggle Belly," I just couldn't wait,
Helping kids sit on the floor, now isn't that great?
A piece of small yarn was a great reminder,
A poster with an X served as a biscuit finder.
I'll always remember the glue brush trick,
It really made sense that glue helps us stick.
From out of his bag, the next thing I liked best,
He said I could wear the bright red "Learning Vest."
"Hey Heavy, where did you get that yellow hardhat?
I'll be a Good Worker' if you let me wear that!"
Heavy was ready to put out the flames,
Signals remind us to never call names.
Hey Freddy what's that pipe in your ear?
It helps me whisper and really speak clear.
Freddy solved problems in a brand new way,
He even wore glasses on this special day.
He told me to focus when trying to sit still,
Heavy had a great book to teach me this skill.
When the class got real noisy, our teacher started to say,
"Freddy won't like this. I bet he won't stay."
A picture with Heavy was the bag's biggest prize,
He only would pose with special gals, special guys.
So discover the magic of a monkey named Freddy,
You'll never be the same, so smile and get ready!
